The Gratitude Architect

How Notion can make you happier

Hello Frances and welcome to Notionfam!
Let me start by thanking you for taking the time to speak to us about The Notion Bar, your Notion-powered brand. Let’s begin with a quick introduction for our readers
What is The Notion Bar and how you came up with the idea?

The Notion Bar was born after I stumbled into the Notion community after exploring solo for a couple years. I was wowed by how engaged the community was, but saddened by the productivity-obsessed culture.

I noticed a gap for voices like mine and wanted to expose people to using Notion in a more fun way. I create mainly lifestyle-based content and resources strongly inspired by aesthetics and pop culture.

You can see more of my work here on Notion’s official YouTube channel.

What was the biggest motivating factor for you to transform this idea into a website?

The  desire to see non-productivity focused content was definitely a driving factor. Additionally, I really wanted to expose more minorities to Notion through my platform.

What value do you think NotionBar will bring to its customers?

I see The Notion Bar as:

  • a gateway for people who have never used Notion before
  • a place to let your hair down for hardcore Notion productivity heads.

For example, two templates I’ve put together are a community-led gratitude journal and a Zine, made on Notion

What was the most discouraging moment you experienced while putting this project together?

Honest answer is that I’ve hit several moments of burnout, however, The Notion Bar community I’ve grown on Twitter continues to give me the motivation to keep going. Especially when I talk to more black women about becoming Notion creators – it makes me feel like I’m not doing the work in vain!

Now that The Notion Bar has been launched, what are the next steps? What are your aspirations for the brand?

I’ll be creating more templates and plan on expanding into YouTube! As time goes on and I have more of a structure in place/my audience grows, I also plan on mentoring and increasing my consulting work.

You must be learning a lot along the way. What are the main resources that you use to develop your products? Marketing, sales, strategy?

I honestly look at my instagram feed/pop culture in general and pay close attention to how the non-Notion brands I follow are retaining their audiences.

If you were to suggest one piece of advice to all up and coming Notion creators, what would it be? Based on your experience so far, what should they be focusing on that will have the greatest impact on the popularity of their products?

Be authentic! Lean into your authentic voice and let your personality shine.
